- Reach out to your roommate to get to know them and discuss your living arrangements.
- Have conversations about expectations, pet peeves and habits up-front to help avoid tension and problems once you are living together.

- Care for your body - physically, emotionally and mentally.
- Maintain a home - doing laundry, cleaning, shopping for groceries, etc.
- Manage your finances - balance your bank account, pay bills, etc.
- Create class calendars with due dates and exam days.
- Schedule time for studying.
- Seek out classmates for team projects and assignments.
- Join clubs or try a new sport.
- Introduce yourself to someone new.
- Try an activity you’ve never done before.
- Don’t focus on your social life so much that you don’t pass your classes.
- Don’t miss out on social connections because you are too focused on your coursework.
- Take courses from several different disciplines.
- Don’t be afraid to change your major if you uncover a new, interesting field.
